The Sections
Girls aged between five to seven can join Rainbows.
Rainbows take part in games and activities as part of the Rainbow programme called the “Rainbow Jigsaw”.
Some Rainbow units are lucky enough to take part in Rainbow overnights. This gives them the opportunity to experience being away from home in a safe and secure environment.
Rainbows have a practical uniform consisting of red jogging bottoms, polo shirt & red hoodie.
Girls aged between 7 and 10 can belong to Brownies.
Brownies work in smaller groups called sixes. As well as taking part in games and activities Brownies follow a programme called the “Brownie Adventure” and for the older girls the “Brownies Adventure on” which prepares them for moving up to Guides when they turn 10.
Brownies are able to work towards a number of badges and also to take part in Brownie Holidays.
Brownies also have a practical uniform consisting of a range of brown & yellow coloured shorts, trousers ,tops & hoodie.
Girls aged between 10 and 14 can belong to Guides.
Guides work in small groups called patrols. Guides take part in a number of activities and can work towards badges and challenges called “Go for It!”. Guides can also go on camps and holidays.
Guides also get the "international opportunities", this may be from a local Guider taking a group abroad, or after a selection process they are able to represent the Region or County. The Guide uniform is also a practical one which allows the girls to choose from a selection of navy tops & a hoodie with their own “home bottoms”.
The Senior Section is for girls and young women aged between 14 to 26.
The Senior Section members can be Rangers and Young Leaders, or an Adult leader once they have reached their 18th birthday.
Young Leaders will be attached to a unit of either: Rainbows, Brownies or Guides and will assist with the weekly running of the meeting. Rangers belong to a unit and take part in a number of challenging activities.
Senior Section members will wear uniform tops appropriate to the section they help with or to the activity they are taking part in.
Adult Leaders run the units they have chosen to work with. Before a leader can be in charge of the unit they complete a leadership qualification which prepares them for running a unit and they have to undergo a Guide Association Criminal Records Bureau check.
The Adult uniform is a practical mix and match of t-shirts, rugby shirts and fleeces.
The Trefoil Guild is an organisation which is made up of adults aged 18 upwards who have had connections with either Guiding or Scouting, but are unable to make a regular commitment.
